Would you move into home with lead-based paint?

I have a 2 y/o son and my husband and I are planning on having another child maybe next year. We have to move to a bigger apartment and have found a townhome which is perfect for us. The landlord is wonderful (she is even paying half of the penalty for me to move in sooner) and the current tenants which I've talked to can't stop raving about her. Here's the problem...I've reviewed the lease and it says that the townhome has lead-based paint. Now, I know the dangers of children ingesting paint chips w/ lead and breathing lead dust. What should I do? I really love the house but is it possible to monitor the paint and safeguard my child (and future children)? Also, there's a backyard and I heard that the lead can seep into the soil. HELP PLEASE!
