Can someone help me identify this sword? Seeking someone that is knowledgeable with swords.?
I used to collect swords. It is a japanese katana but the specific name for that type would be a Shirasaya. Or that's what it is supposed to look like. The photos show that this is a made in china, stainless steel sword most likely a 440 grade. Poor edge retention in that case. It has a fake hamon probably grinded or done with chemicals. It has absolutely no combat usage and it just for decoration. Although it has an edge it is not going to be very sharp. A true battle ready sword such as that would cost at least $2,000 for a decent quality one going up to $20,000 and even higher than that.
