Why do the Yankees get credit for all their pre 1970 championships but in football the Packers and Bears dont?

Lets start with the fact that MLB Championships and records have nothing to do with the AFL/NFL merger. Those older football teams still have credit for those championships, they just aren't Superbowl Championships.
