What kind of illness do I have?

On Monday I woke up with a sore throat that was painful but i could still drink and eat...it was accompanied by weakness, being achey, chills, a slight headache... The next day the sore throat got worse and I still had all the symptoms except a headache (dont know if i have a fever-no thermometer) ...its been hard to swallow my own saliva or any food or beverages...This morning I woke up and most of the symptoms are gone except that my throat is still killing me...its not quite AS painfull to swallow but it still is very much so. Is this strepp throat? And if so, I do not have the money to see a doctor.. could it be something different? I read on the internet if it's strepp that it may clear on its own within 2 to 5 days...
