Edgar Allan Poe was an American born world renowned poet. His most famous works include thepoem, The Raven, and the short story, The Tell-Tale Heart. Poe's trademark melancholy tone of work caused him to be considered by some to be "literary genius beyond dispute." His life was plagued with traumatic experiences and some believe that is what triggered the "dark" writings of this interesting man. Poe's works described the darker side of American life; bad people, death, and love lost.
