Do I have mono? Details..?

I was sick last week with a fever, stuffy nose, sore throat, etc. When I went to the doctor, he told me that it's not swine, and it probably is mono or strep. Strep test came out negative so he thinks it's mono. I am going to get a blood test soon if I get the time, but I don't think it's mono anymore. After two days off from school and steroids that he gave me last week (finished the dose sometime last week), I feel pretty much 100%. I want to know what I should do because it is starting to effect me. I already couldn't run in my track meets, my girlfriend won't kiss me, and I would like to know so I know if it's safe if I drink. By the way I'm 16 and a guy.
